The Rocky Mountain Puppet Slam
Come celebrate the third year of the Rocky Mountain Puppet Slam!
What the heck is a puppet slam? A night of curated short form puppet and object theatre. You might see a comedic hand puppet piece, a dramatic and moving marionette, a haunting shadow performance, a life size Pegasus, you never know!
There are puppet slams all over the country and are a fantastic place to showcase new and emerging puppetry works. And after the slam don’t miss the Puppet Lab, where puppeteers show their work and let you get up close and personal with the puppets! Take pictures, see how they work and try out puppeteering!
While you are watching all types of professional puppetry and talent, enjoy a delicious drink or snack!
How much does it cost? Free! ***Well suggested donation of $5-10 which will go directly to the puppeteers and future slams.
The next Puppet slam is being generously supported by Denver Arts and Venues’ Next Stage NOW program. This slam is going to be at the DCPA in downtown Denver and will hopefully bring a huge crowd! This slam will be a bit fancier than past events, but will still be free and have yummy food and drinks!
If you have a piece you would like to perform send an email ASAP to Katy for guidelines. firstname.lastname@example.org Submission deadline Feb 18th.
This event is hosted by Katy Williams Design, a local puppet and props fabrication company, in collaboration with Next Stage NOW, a branch of Denver Arts and venues that celebrates diverse, public, and awesome local talent! Check out the websites below for more info. Future slams will be presented by more local theatre companies to show the talent Denver has to offer!
See you at the theatre!
